Rhododendron Study

Original: acrylic on multimedia paper, 5x9.

This is a study I did to work out how to paint the tangled and distinct rhododendrons commonly found in many of my favorite spots. There is no quick way to do it. Just like crawling through them to get to the next pool, you have to let the rhododendrons be in charge and just take your time. I had some paint left from a painting I was doing, so I mixed it all together and created a value range. This is the tone that resulted. Pretty cool accidental color.

4.5x8 print on 8x10 paper, white border. Add directly to 8x10 frame with no matting.
